Cheryl Gregg Fahrenholz, RHIA, CCS-P is the President of Preferred Healthcare Solutions, LLC and an executive healthcare consultant with over 25 years of experience working with physicians, staff, and healthcare administration.  Specializing in revenue cycle integrity, CHeryl offers detailed expertise for hospitals and physician practices.  Additionally, she provides services focused on revenue cycle processes, operational assessments, charge master reviews, ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation and training, compliance evaluations and plan development, fee schedule, market analysis, documentation, coding audits, risk analysis, managed care contract reviews, negotiations, software selection, implementation, physician and staff customized educational sessions, electronic health record selection and implementation, policy and procedure development, charge capture assessments, demand analysis, forms design, credentialing services, new practice acquisitions, organizational management, interim and retainer professional support, outsourced coding, and customized engagement work. 

Cheryl is known national for her presentations to large and small group settings.  She has presented topics relating to practice management efficiencies, coding, documentation, and reimbursement.  She is a requested speaker for many national, state and local organizations.

In her volunteer roles, Cheryl is recognized by her peers through many awards such as the “Triumph Awards” through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Distinguished Member for both the Ohio Health Information Management Association and the Miami Valley Health Information Management Association.  She is active at the national level with AHIMA and has served on the Nominating Committee, Delegate, Program Committee, Compliance Committee, Communities of Practice Advisory Board, Release of Information Work Group, Chair of Physician Practice Council, CHair of Ambulatory Care Section and Editor of the Brief Encounter.  She has served for numerous years on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Health Information Management Association, the Miami Valley Health Information Management Association and the Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Technical Working Group ( a Steering Committee) for the Provided Education Project which is responsible for conducting the needs assessment and development of the educational rollout for proper claims processing and reimbursement.  She was one of four individuals appointed to the National Compliance Task Force 2000, where she worked directly with the Office of Inspector General on the development of Model Compliance Guidance Programs.  She was one of six AHIMA members to be appointed as a coding expert to the CMS’s National Coverage Policy Task Force.  Additionally she serves on the Reimbursement Committee for the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and was awarded the Advocate of Excellence by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  Cheryl also is a member of the Sinclair Community College Health Information Management Advisory Board.

Her previous work experience includes Premier Health Partners as the Director of Health Information and Reimbursement, Miami Valley Hospital Enterprises as the Regional Operations Manger and Miami Valley Hospital as the Manager of Information Management.

Cheryl has her degree in Health Information Management form Bowling Green State University.  She is a Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist for Physicians (CCS-P) through the American Health Information Management Association.  Cheryl is also an AHIMA-=approved ICD-10-CM Trainer. 

Cheryl is a sought after speaker and has been published extensively on the national level with topics including revenue cycle integrity, coding, electronic and personal health records, and practice management issues.  Her most recent publication was a book released in 2010 entitled “Documentation for Medical Practices.”
